Demonstration of Insignia/TextEffx features

Insignia/TextEffx is based upon layers. Graphics packages such as PhotoDesk use layers in order to allow different parts of an image to be operated on separately. Insignia/TextEffx uses layers for similar reasons. Starting from the back we have the

Background layer
Shadow layer
Text layer
After effects layer

Each of these layers can have its own degree of transparency associated with it.

The images here demonstrate a little of what is possible.

trans1.jpg - 7Kb This image uses a geometric tile for the background. The point of this is to more easily see the transparency effects. In this first image there is no transparency set.

trans2.jpg - 7Kb We have set the white shadow to have an opacity level of 60%. In other words it has a density only 60% of full colour. It is possible to see the background through the shadow. The text in this image is opaque.

trans3.jpg - 7Kb We have now given the foreground text an opacity of 75%. The shadow still has an opacity of 60%. The background can now be seen through both the shadow and the foreground text, at different levels. It is also possible to see that less background shows where it is behind both text and shadow than where it is behind only one or the other. You can also just see the outline of the shadow through the foreground text.
Notice that the saturation of the colours that are made partially transparent is reduced.
